BSANZ member profile

I’m a PhD Candidate in Modern British History at Northwestern University in the United States, and my dissertation explores the export of British media to Australasia. My work is really engaged with the history of book, magazine, theatre, and generally text production around the turn of the nineteenth century as a material and business endeavor as well as a cultural one – I’m approaching book history more as a business historian than a conventional bibliographer. I’m interested in people who find business opportunities in the book/theatre/magazine space, and how their business practices shape broader social trends and sensibilities. I have a life-long interest in books and theatre, as a theatrical practitioner myself and a sometime theatre administrator. I’m really looking forward to participating in this community and (hopefully, when borders will allow!) attending conferences on current scholarship in this academic space!
